I am José Otaviano da Mata Machado Silva, undergraduate student at the Literature and Languages Course at UFMG. I am currently taking a major in Literatures in English. I'm a member of the Latin-American Interlocutions Study Group, coordinated by Professor Haydée Ribeiro. I am currently developing a comparative literature research between the Mexican philosopher Octavio Paz and the Brazilian historian Sérgio Buarque de Holanda. I intend to develop a monography in the Literary Theory field and eventually research further in a Master's and a Doctor's course, though I'm still not sure as to which subject I will focus. My professional goal in life is to become a Literary Theorist or an English Literature professor. I am currently an English teacher at Brasas English Course, and I have previously worked as a private teacher, a translator and an interpreter.
